Architecture Nomad PLLC and ARCNOMA to Participate in Inaugural AIA Brooklyn Architecture Week at CityTech
BROOKLYN, NY – Architecture Nomad PLLC and the research studio ARCNOMA have announced their participation in the first annual AIA Brooklyn Architecture Week. Held from April 13 to 19, 2026, the event is a borough-wide celebration of the architectural profession, featuring educational programs at the New York City College of Technology (CityTech) designed to inspire the next generation of designers.
Christopher Mancia, Founder of Architecture Nomad, will contribute to the week’s programming through panel discussions and mentorship initiatives focused on the path to licensure and the role of research in modern practice. Central to the firm's involvement is the "Reading the Block" workshop, a two-day intensive architecture studio for Brooklyn high school students held at CityTech’s Voorhees Hall on April 18 and 19.
The "Reading the Block" program utilizes hands-on studio methods to teach students how to analyze urban environments, a core methodology of the ARCNOMA research wing. Participants will work alongside architects and college mentors to study a real Brooklyn city block, learning how design decisions impact community well-being and neighborhood resilience.
"Architecture Week provides a vital platform to bridge the gap between professional practice and the local community," says Christopher Mancia. "By hosting these sessions at CityTech, my alma mater, we are able to mentor students at the exact site where many professional journeys begin. Our goal is to demonstrate how the analysis of our streets can lead to a more purposeful and inclusive urban fabric."
The participation in Architecture Week aligns with the firm’s ongoing research into the Architecture of Belonging. By engaging with high school students through the "Reading the Block" studio, Architecture Nomad PLLC and ARCNOMA continue their mission of fostering design literacy and professional mentorship within the New York City landscape.
