ARCHITECTURE NOMAD PLLC and AIA Brooklyn Conclude Successful Architecture Week Mentorship Program

BROOKLYN, NY (April 2026)ARCHITECTURE NOMAD PLLC recently concluded its active participation in AIA Brooklyn’s Architecture Week, which took place from April 13 to April 19, 2026. Christopher Mancia, of ARCHITECTURE NOMAD PLLC, served as a key studio lead during the event hosted at the New York City College of Technology (City Tech). The program centered on the Mentoring Architectural Pathways (MAP) initiative, which is a dedicated effort to guide students toward professional careers in the built environment.

The weekend featured the Reading the Block workshop designed for high school students. The Saturday session commenced with an opening keynote from AIA National President Illya Azaroff, who addressed the importance of community and the future of the architectural profession. Following these remarks, students joined small group clusters where Mancia and other mentors introduced fundamental concepts of space, proportions, and the use of the architectural scale.

As part of the curriculum, Mancia facilitated firm tours and led a site analysis block visit. During the walk, students observed community conditions and identified local needs to inform their design concepts. The workshop concluded with an intensive Sunday working session where participants translated their initial sketches into physical study and final models. This hands-on experience allowed students to experience the full design arc from initial analysis to 3D fabrication.

By serving as a studio lead, Christopher Mancia reinforced the commitment of ARCHITECTURE NOMAD PLLC to accessible mentorship and the development of future architectural talent. The firm continues to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice through these neighborhood-focused educational events. Through initiatives like Architecture Week, ARCHITECTURE NOMAD PLLC helps ensure that the tools for creating healthy and comfortable urban environments are shared with the next generation of designers.
